Project Details:
INCubator is a tongue-in-cheek business management sim that pokes fun at the absurdity of start-up culture. The gameplay is similar to Two Point Hospital, with a grid-based room designer, staff hiring and working mechanics, and an objective-based mission system. The main technical challenges in this project involved building our own grid-based level designer, developing complex AI routines, and pathfinding.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead Developer: I was responsible for the majority of game systems programming, UI implementation, dialogue system and tool integration, and prefab setup for items and building systems. I also oversaw the development of the AI behaviours and pathfinding systems by another developer, helping and debugging their work when needed.
• Business Development: Creating funding applications (successful), handling all budgets and finances, and working on pitching materials for publishers. This project successfully secured competitive UK Games Fund and NI Screen funding.
