Project Details:
Sub Disaster is an immersive VR disaster game set on board a sinking steampunk submarine. The player takes on the role of a robot left behind in the evacuation, and must use hand motion controls to weld shut breaches in the hull and pipes, shovel coal into the furnace, prevent the torpedoes from going off, and escort their abandoned robot friends to safety.
This project started life as a global game jam entry my studio made, and was adapted to VR as a technical and game design challenge. The key challenges for me were adapting the game controls for hand motion controls and adapting the camera systems to work on Meta Quest VR.
Key Responsibilities:
 • Lead Developer: The initial game jam prototype of the game involved a team of three programmers, which I led. I was then the solo programmer on the project to adapt the game for VR, handling all the new gameplay implementation, VR and camera systems, and hand and motion control systems.
Technology Stack:
 • Unity (various versions)
 • C#, Visual Studio
 • Built-in Render Pipeline
 • Meta Quest 2
 • Android
 • Perforce
 • Miro
 • Ora
